2017 CMBES Annual Conference
May 23-26, 2017
Fort Garry Hotel
Winnipeg, MB

 

The CMBES Annual Conference is the premier event for biomedical engineering professionals in Canada. This conference offers a national forum for information exchange among researchers and practitioners working in the medical technology industry and biomedical engineering.

 

The main objective of CMBEC40 is to improve communication
and encourage collaboration among all healthcare professionals through the presentation and discussion of new research and current challenges.

 

The Program Committee invites engineers, physicians, scientists, students, technicians and technologists to submit papers for this important event.
Scientific and technical contributions are welcome in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Biomaterials
  • Biomechanics
  • Biomedical Image Processing
  • Biosignal Acquisition and Processing
  • Biophotonics
  • Clinical Engineering
  • Ethics and Regulations
  • Health Informatics
  • Medical Devices: Development, Evaluation and 
Commercialization

  • Physiological Systems/Modeling
  • Rehabilitation and Assistive Devices Engineering
  • Robotics
  • Sensors and Instrumentation
  • Software Usability Testing
  • Telehealth
  • Tissue and Cellular Engineering

Paper Submission Process - Please note the process has been simplified for 2017
Authors are invited to submit a 2-4 page paper through the ExOrdo online paper management system at http://cmbec40.exordo.com no later than February 17, 2017.

You will be required to setup an ExOrdo account when you login for the first time.

Submitted papers must follow the format outlined in the CMBEC Paper Template CMBEC40 document. 

Papers will be subject to a critical review process by the Scientific Committee.

Notification of paper acceptance will be sent by March 17, 2017.

Presentation of papers will be in podium or poster sessions and the Program Committee reserves the right to decide on the medium to be used for each accepted paper.

Presentation and poster guidelines will be provided with notification of acceptance.

Whether presented in a podium or poster session, submissions will be judged equally in the Outstanding Research and the Student Paper competitions.

Note that a selection of conference papers may be published in a special issue of the Journal of Medical and Biological Engineering.

Outstanding Research Competition
A shortlist of outstanding candidates will be selected by the Scientific Review Committee upon submission. Papers and presentations of the candidates on the short list will be judged at the Conference
by the Competition Review Committee. Only CMBES members are eligible for this competition.
The winner receives $2,000.

Student Paper Competition
Students of biomedical engineering or technology, clinical engineering and related fields are invited to submit papers. Only students who are members of CMBES will be eligible for this competition. The top three students judged to have presented papers of the highest quality will win a cash prize. ($500, $300, $200)
