POSITION: BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST – REGULAR FULL TIME

LOCATION: CANADIAN BLOOD SERVICES – EDMONTON

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Biomedical Services Team Lead, Western Region, the Biomedical Technologist is responsible for the Biomedical Equipment Program, providing technical equipment support in various aspects of electronic and biomedical engineering..

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implements, oversees and maintains the Biomedical Equipment Program for the sites
  • Inspects, tests, adjusts and evaluates incoming electrical, electrical-mechanical and electronic components and assemblies to ensure conformance with product specifications and tolerances, and standards required by Canadian Blood Services
  • Supports the preventative maintenance and repair requirements for the Biomedical, Clinic and Laboratory equipment, including scheduling, calibration, preventative maintenance, trending and analysis, etc.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements and Canadian Blood Services (SOPs) and (COPs)
  • Consults and provides professional advice in the acquisition of new equipment and related performance assurance 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a Diploma in Biomedical or Electronic Engineering Technology
  • A minimum of three to five years experience in repairing and maintaining blood collection/clinical laboratory equipment, preferably in regulated manufacturing environment
  • WHMIS Training in Laboratory safety is essential
  • Knowledge of electrical safety codes is essential
  • Knowledge of GMP and ISO 9000 is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • Experience with documentation of equipment service record systems in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is an asset
